About our scholarship

The Dunbarton Garden Club will offer two $1,500 scholarships to graduating Dunbarton
seniors who attend Bow High School with good academic standing. This scholarship is open to
an applicant who will be attending an institute of higher learning to study and/or connect their
area of study to the following: horticulture, agriculture, floriculture, botany, environmental
sciences, forestry, plant sciences, garden history and design, landscape architecture, pollinator
research, conservation, ecological restoration or other field related to environmental
improvements, biology, ecology, earth science, oceanography, geology, chemistry, astronomy,
meteorology and climate change.

Each applicant shall complete an essay stating their educational goals and describe any current
or past activities that are connected to these goals. In addition, two letters of recommendation
from their current high school teachers and/or counselor and a copy of their high school transcript
is needed.

Award recipients may reapply for the scholarship in future years, provided they remain enrolled
and continue to meet the eligibility requirements. All awards are contingent on the availability of
Dunbarton Garden Club funding.

The deadline for applications is the first Monday in April 2027. The recipient will be notified by the Dunbarton Garden Club Scholarship Committee prior to the annual Bow High School Senior Awards Program which takes place in early June.

The Dunbarton Garden Club would like to have the recipient(s) attend the May 2027 meeting and speak briefly to the membership about their high school experience and plans.
